Nehemiah 8:2-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Nehemiah 8 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Ezra reads the Law before a gathered people who can understand, from morning until midday, and all listen with attentive ears.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the inner theater of your being, the scene unfolds as the I AM hearing the living law. The crowd represents your waking attention gathered before truth; the morning-to-midday span signifies a sustained focus on what is true. The street before the water gate is the channel through which feeling enters consciousness, and the ears that are attentive symbolize your receptivity to the Law beyond noise and distraction. When you recognize that God is the I AM within and that the law you hear is the law you become, you are practicing a state rather than a ritual. By assuming the authority of this inner reading and gently revising any belief contrary to it, you anchor obedience and faithfulness as natural expressions of your being. Feel it real by dwelling in that listening consciousness, letting the Law shape your decisions, desires, and actions. The outward reading then serves as a symbol for your inward alignment with Truth, a covenant kept within the self.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine an Ezra-like voice speaking the inner law to you, from morning through midday. Feel it as your living reality by repeating inwardly, 'I am the law, I understand,' until the sense of receptivity becomes vivid.
