Biblical Context
Nehemiah completes the wall and doors, appointing faithful guardians and Levites to oversee Jerusalem. He orders the gates shut until the sun is hot and assigns watches, noting the city is large but the people few and houses unbuilt.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within me lies Jerusalem, a city of my states of consciousness. The wall completed, the doors set, and the guards posted are not external events but the alignment of my I AM. I appoint Hanani and Hananiah—the faithful faculties of awareness and reverence—to preside, for I know those who fear God above many keep the heart clear. By not opening the gates until the sun is hot, I practice waiting for the full light of conscious awareness before allowing impulses to enter; I bar doors when needed and set watches for every house—my thoughts, habits, and feelings—to sustain inner order. The city is large and great, yet the people are few and the houses unbuilt, reminding me that abundance begins with disciplined states and built inner habits. I am the governor of this inner Jerusalem, and I know my imagination creates reality; by dwelling in the finished city, I consciously draw it into form.
Practice This Now
Assume that your inner Jerusalem is completed: gates closed, watchers posted over every aspect of your life. Feel the warmth of conscious light rising as you dwell in that finished, secure state, for it is your reality now.
