The Great Work Stands Firm

Nehemiah 6:3-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Nehemiah 6 in context

Scripture Focus

3And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?
4Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.
Nehemiah 6:3-4

Biblical Context

Nehemiah states he is engaged in a great work and cannot come down, despite repeated invitations, choosing persistence over distraction.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the great work as a state of consciousness you inhabit, not a task you finish in time. The four messengers are the recurring thoughts of distraction who appear to pull you away from your inner decree. Nehemiah’s declaration, I am doing a great work, and I cannot come down, is the technique: you refuse to descend from your assumed reality. When you identify with the I AM that you are, you become the strong current that no opposition can alter. The more you persist in the feeling that the work is done in your inner life, the more the outer scene bends to that conviction. The invaders’ persistence only tests your faith in the inner vision; answer by revisiting the same sentence, by dwelling in the assurance, by feeling the completion now. Your vocation and witness are not distant; they are proven in the present moment of unwavering consciousness. Stay there, and the world must reflect the inner state you have chosen.

Practice This Now

Act: Assume you are already at the great work; revise any distraction with I am doing a great work, and feel it real until life reflects it.
