The phrase 'had a mind to work' is not about external labor; it is the recognition that you have decided, right now, that your imagined state is real. The wall grows because the inner state is alive; your attention, feeling, and imagining work together to bring form into sensation. Therefore, act in your imagination as if the wall already stands, joined and solid, and you will see the outer world move to match that inner concord.
