Inner Wall Of Courage And Trust
Nehemiah 4:14-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Nehemiah 4 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Nehemiah calls the people to fearlessness, to remember the Lord, and to defend their homes. The work resumes with some standing guard while others labor, united in purpose.
Neville's Inner Vision
Observe that the scene is a moment inside your own consciousness. The nobles, rulers, and people symbolize the facets of your mind; fear of the 'enemy' is old thought-craft trying to stop your inner city from rising. 'Remember the LORD, which is great and terrible' points to remembering the I AM within—the one life, the awareness that does the imagining. To 'fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses' means defend the relationships and inner states that give life to your world—the patterns you cherish and the beliefs you hold. When the enemies' counsel is 'brought to naught,' it is the decree that the old plan has no effect when you stand in the truth of your I AM. The scene where half the servants work and half hold weapons illustrates balancing constructive action with protective readiness: you labor with one hand and hold discipline with the other. With this inner alignment, Providence ‘works’ through your imagination, and your wall is formed by consciousness itself.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and assume, 'I AM the builder of my inner wall, protected by the I AM within.' Feel fear melt as you return to your work, with discipline in one hand and awareness in the other.
