Inner Builders of the Self
Nehemiah 3:10-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Nehemiah 3 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage shows workers repairing sections of the wall, each near their own house, and a tower, symbolizing personal renewal through cooperative, orderly labor. It highlights perseverance, unity, obedience, and faithfulness.
Neville's Inner Vision
I see that these builders are not distant laborers but states of consciousness within me. Jedaiah, over against his house, repair is my claim that I am willing to align my inner dwelling with the action of creation. Hattush stands near him, the neighborly voice of discipline, reminding me that orderly thought supports manifested form. Malchijah and Hashub repair the other piece and the tower of furnaces, symbolizing the parts of me that endure heat and pressure—my furnace of trials that refines desire. When all the pieces join, the whole city rises in unity; so when I cooperate with every facet of my being, my inner city becomes safe and strong. The 'house' and the 'tower' are not places but dispositions. Obedience to inner perception, faithfulness to imagined states, and the collective effort of all faculties bring restoration. In this moment I choose to dwell in a state where cooperation, endurance, and unity exist as my daily experience, and realities form from the imagination I hold.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine Jedaiah at his house and Malchijah guarding the other piece; revise your inner state to, 'I am united within, and all parts of my being work together in faith and endurance.' Feel it.
