Inner Return to Integrity

Nehemiah 13:6-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Nehemiah 13 in context

Scripture Focus

6But in all this time was not I at Jerusalem: for in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon came I unto the king, and after certain days obtained I leave of the king:
7And I came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God.
Nehemiah 13:6-7

Biblical Context

Nehemiah returns to Jerusalem and uncovers that Eliashib has prepared a chamber in the temple courts for Tobiah. This reveals a breach of holiness and order in the house of God.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your inner Nehemiah returns to Jerusalem in the sense that your I AM consciousness revisits the temple of your mind. The discoveries are not external actors but inner dispositions—Eliashib with his neglect and Tobiah lurking as compromise. The chamber in the courts of the house of God is a corner of your mind where old loyalties, fear, or appetite have set up shop. The 'evil' you uncover is simply a misalignment between the divine Presence and a state of consciousness that tolerates the unholy. The moment you become aware, you have the power to restore order: you identify the intruder, you revise the mental city to reflect holiness, and you invite the Presence to fill every room. This is leadership of consciousness; you govern from the I AM, not from reaction. The temple is to be kept pure and dedicated to true worship. Your task is to shift from reaction to revelation, to align your inner city with God as I AM, so the temple can radiate the Presence rather than be haunted by removed tenants.

Practice This Now

Imaginatively assume the role of the temple's governor now: declare I AM here; revise, remove the unholy tenant, and feel the Presence fill every chamber.
