The Inner Tithe Practice
Nehemiah 10:32 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Nehemiah 10 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse describes setting up an ordinance to tax themselves a third of a shekel each year for the service of the house of our God.
Neville's Inner Vision
Whatever temple your consciousness is building, the verse speaks of a discipline: set aside yearly, habitually, a fixed measure for the service of the Divine within. In my view, 'the house of our God' is the sanctuary of I AM awareness. The act of charging ourselves with a third part of a shekel becomes a symbolic decree that your inner government may fund right order, generosity, and true worship. This is not about external rations; it is about the inner administration of resources—time, attention, gratitude—given back to God in you. When I imagine this, I see a constant flow: a portion reserved for the sacred work of alignment, a vow to steward your thoughts, your impulses, your moods, with the same care you would give a sanctuary. The practice invites obedience to your higher self, not burden, and it tunes your inner economy to abundance rather than scarcity. As you persist, your inner world begins to respond as if the temple were well-kept, and the outward life follows suit.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and declare, 'I allocate a third of my awareness to the service of the God within.' Then breathe into that conviction until it feels real.
