Biblical Context
These verses describe wicked plans against the LORD, pictured as dry, thorny brush that will be devoured; and they warn that a wicked counsellor can arise from within you, exposing the internal source of judgment.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the wicked counsellor is a thought-form that imagines evil against the Lord. The thorny alliance and the drunken state are the stubborn beliefs and fear-filled thoughts you harbor—habits of mind that pretend to threaten the divine order. They are not out there; they exist as inner dispositions that cluster when you forget who you are. The line 'There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor' points to a thought arising from your own subconscious that counsels against the good you desire. When you identify with this thought, you lend it life and make it seem to govern events. But the I AM, the awareness you truly are, is the sovereign ruler who can dissolve these images by simply turning to the truth that you are one with God. To apply this, imagine the scene as a mental drama you can rewrite: the thorny bundle is removed by your realization that your imagination creates reality; the drunken state dissolves as you assume the well-ordered state of divine mind; the wicked counsellor is seen as a passing thought, not a law. The prophecy becomes promise: as you awaken to your I AM, you witness these inner storms consumed by the dawn of awareness.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and declare I AM the governor of my inner realm. Revise the troubling thought as a passing dream and feel the I AM presence dissolving the thorny, drunken counsel into wisdom.
