Feed thy people with thy rod is not about land but about consciousness. The rod is the fixed point of attention—the direction your awareness takes when you demand nourishment for every state of mind. The flock of thine heritage are the inherited realizations of God you carry within; dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel describes those intimate, solitary thoughts where you feel cut off, yet they are still fed by your inner shepherd. Let them feed in Bashan and Gilead invites you to inhabit the fertile conditions of past states of abundance right here and now, by the memory that the I AM is always near. The presence of God is the living stream and the bread; covenant loyalty is fidelity to that awareness. When you imagine yourself as the shepherd of your inner life, you align with the truth that you feed what you are conscious of. Your present, not a distant land, becomes the land of plenty because you dwell in the I AM and feed with the rod of disciplined imagination.
