Bethlehem's Inner King
Micah 5:2-5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Micah 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Bethlehem is described as small among the tribes, yet from it will come a ruler who will shepherd Israel. He will stand in the strength of the LORD and bring lasting peace.
Neville's Inner Vision
Bethlehem here is not a place you visit but a state you assume. The verse speaks of a ruler arising from your inner house, the I AM that stands whenever you refuse to bow to limitation. 'Whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting' declares that this sovereignty is not new thought but the eternal habit of consciousness you have forgotten. When it says, 'Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth,' recognize the moment your inner birth is ready; you must hold the vision until the birth is complete, and the remnant of your true self returns to life. 'And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD' means you rest in the inner power that guides actions, words, and feelings. This inner ruler makes peace your daily condition; the external threats (the Assyrian) are only a signal to awaken the inner governance. The seven shepherds and eight principal men are the cooperating faculties of mind under the king, ensuring unity and order. The goings forth of this ruler reach the ends of the earth because the state of consciousness carries itself everywhere.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the state: I am the ruler in Israel, fed by the strength of the LORD; feel that inner king settle and bring lasting peace.
