Matthew 9:9

Biblical Context

Jesus calls Matthew, a tax collector, to follow him; Matthew rises from his desk and joins the mission, symbolizing an inner summons to a higher vocation.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider the scene as a metaphor for the mind in action. The man at the receipt of custom represents a state of consciousness preoccupied with duty, gain, and outward appearances. When Jesus says, 'Follow me,' the words awaken the I AM within—the eternal invitation to align with a higher vocation. Matthew’s rise is not a historical feat but a psychic decision: the old self surrenders its claims and the inner awareness chooses to walk with its own inner authority. The 'call' is not added labor but a transformation of perception: once you accept the inner invitation, your thoughts, feelings, and choices begin to harmonize with a purpose greater than the old occupation. This is the Neville law: imagination creates reality by the assumption of a new state. The tax collector becomes a witness not by leaving town but by shifting identity from separation to oneness, from obligation to service to the inner kingdom. The mission then unfolds as you live from that consciousness, inviting others to listen to the same inner voice.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and hear the inner voice say, Follow me. Then assume you are already in alignment with your true vocation, and let that feeling govern your next action.
