Inner Shepherd of Compassion
Matthew 9:36 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus saw the crowds and was moved with compassion because they were weary and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd. This reveals the inward state of minds needing guidance.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the Christ in you, the crowds are not distant people but the many thoughts and feelings roaming without a wise governor. When you interpret 'compassion' as the mere feeling of pity, you keep the self divided; but when you hear the word 'compassion' as a summons of the I AM to move within, you begin to revise your inner kingdom. The multitudes faint because you have forgotten your true shepherd—the steady present awareness of I AM. Your attention wanders through opinions, desires, memories, and fears, and each is a sheep asking, 'Who tends me?' The moment you assume the role of shepherd, the flock settles into alignment; you do not chase or condemn, you govern with quiet certainty. The healing power arises as a natural by-product of your sovereign state: when the inner governor is present, there is no scattering, no lack of guidance, only coherence and unity. See the shepherd in you as not separate from God but the very activity of God within your consciousness, guiding, restoring, and bringing all to the center of your awareness.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume you are the inner shepherd; gently gather scattered thoughts into one focus and feel the flock respond to your quiet leadership. Let the sense of I AM preside, and feel the unity of your mind settling into a shepherded, healed presence.
