Biblical Context
In Matthew 9:24, Jesus declares the girl is not dead but asleep, while onlookers mock. The verse presents death as a temporary, inner state that can be shifted by perception.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this scene, the maid is a symbol of a portion of your consciousness you have believed to be still. The crowd who laughs are the voices of skepticism clinging to appearances, insisting that life ends in the visible moment. Jesus does not argue with the corpse; he speaks to the deeper level of awareness that never ceases. When he says she is not dead, but sleepeth, he teaches that death is a dream-state within your own mind, a nap of belief awaiting a shift in consciousness. If you dwell in the I AM—your true awareness—you can command the inner room to yield to the new life already present. The moment you assume the state of the living, the 'dead' state relaxes into sleep and can be called forth by feeling it real. Faith here is not petition but alignment: assume the end you desire, revise the scene, and feel the presence of vitality as now. The room complies, and God within awakens what you thought was gone.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, affirm: I am the I AM; this room holds the life now present; the maid wakes. Then feel the revival as already real and reverent in your body.
