Matthew 9:18-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 9 in context

Scripture Focus

18While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
19And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.
Matthew 9:18-19

Biblical Context

A ruler comes to Jesus, saying his daughter is dead and asks him to lay hands on her; Jesus rises and follows, with the disciples.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this scene the ruler is a state of consciousness that worships the I AM and begs for a future rescue. The statement my daughter is dead is the stubborn belief that life is over in a certain area; laying the hand upon her is the invitation to touch the inner vitality that you are. When Jesus rises and follows, the I AM moves at the command of your renewed assumption; the disciples are your habitual thoughts that accompany you until you choose a new premise. To translate death into life, you do not plead; you revise. Take a moment and assume the state you desire: health, restoration, wholeness, as though it is already done. Feel the presence of life as a current in your chest, see the scene of revival in your imagination, and rest in that certainty. The outer movement—the coming together of life and action—follows your inner conviction, not the other way around. Healing is the reassertion of your inner capacity to be aware of life.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, assume the state of vitality you desire as already present, and feel it as a current in your chest; repeat in your mind I AM that life and dwell in the scene of restoration.
