Mercy At The Inner Table
Matthew 9:10-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Matthew 9 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus sits with publicans and sinners, inviting them to share a meal; the Pharisees question the Master's choice.
Neville's Inner Vision
I tell you, the scene is not an event in a village but a revelation of your inner state. The table stands for the quality of your awareness; the guests—publicans and sinners—are the parts of you you have labeled unacceptable. When Jesus sits with them, the I AM within you ceases to exclude; it invites every fragment to partake of the same bread of Life. The Pharisees represent judgment—external rules that think love must be earned by behavior. But in this moment mercy flows from the consciousness that you are already loved, and every element of your mind is welcome at the feast. You do not compel grace from without; you awaken to it within by choosing to acknowledge the presence of all urges, memories, and fears as existing in unity with divine Being. As you practice, your imagination becomes the door through which favor enters your life; you become the host of a love that includes what you once exiled.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, seat a part of yourself you judge as 'sinner' at an inner table, and imagine the Master inviting it to eat; repeat 'You are welcome here' until the feeling of inclusion is felt-real.
