Demons of Mind, Christ Within
Matthew 8:29 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Matthew 8 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The demons cry out in recognition of Jesus, the Son of God, and question whether he has come to torment them before the appointed time.
Neville's Inner Vision
See the scene as an inner drama, not a geographical encounter. The Son of God is the I AM within you, and the demons are subconscious claims that you are separate, bound by fear, or chained to a time-bound narrative. They cry, 'What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God?' acknowledging your authority even as they tremble before your light. The phrase 'torment us before the time' points to a belief in delayed awakening; the whole moment dissolves when you dwell in the awareness 'I AM' here and now. There is no external torment; the power you call torment is simply old pictures resisting dissolution. When you identify with the One Life within, the sense of separation fades. Do not argue with these voices; let them bow to your assumed consciousness and replace their story with your God-given authority. The inner drama reveals what remains to be claimed as truth within you.
Practice This Now
Take 1–2 minutes to assume 'I AM' is present now; silently revise the scene by affirming 'I and the Father are one.' Feel the truth move through you and let fear dissolve.
