Inner Authority of Jesus Teachings

Matthew 7:28-29 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 7 in context

Scripture Focus

28And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
29For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
Matthew 7:28-29

Biblical Context

After he finished speaking, the people were astonished by his doctrine. They noticed he taught with unmistakable authority, not like the scribes.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Neville, the scene is a mirror of your inner life. The crowd’s astonishment is not about external words but about an inner shift you can claim now: the I AM within you speaks with the same authority when you stop doubting the voice that arises in stillness. The scribes represent worn habits of thinking—past scripts you repeat to feel safe. Jesus, in this view, is your awareness made flesh, teaching directly from the throne of consciousness, not through borrowed quotations. When you imagine yourself hearing a clear, decisive impression and call that impression ‘I am,’ you are hearing the inner teacher do what you once believed only God could do: shape reality by conviction. Do not try to imitate outer authority; awaken the inner governance. Your present circumstances may beg for certainty; answer with the awareness that you are the one who speaks the law of truth to your own life. The more you dwell in that I AM, the more your experiences reflect a teaching with real power.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the inner teacher is speaking through you now. Revise any doubt by repeating, 'I AM the authority within me,' until the feeling of certainty becomes vivid and real.
