The Narrow Gate Within

Matthew 7:14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 7 in context

Scripture Focus

14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Matthew 7:14

Biblical Context

The gate to life is narrow and demanding; the crowd tends to miss it by choosing the easier path.

Neville's Inner Vision

Remember, the gate Jesus calls 'strait' is not a door in the forest but a state of consciousness you enter by choosing. The word points to the disciplined simplicity of your inner life: you strip away competing thoughts until a single believable impression remains. The narrow way is the steadfast practice of attention—refusing to let fear, habit, or outer circumstance dictate your inner weather. Few find it because few pause long enough within to listen to the I AM that you truly are. When you imagine, you are not escaping life; you are claiming your birthright. You are reselecting the memory that life is now and forever yours, and you insist on that image until it feels real and natural. To walk it, make the assumption firm and exclusive: I am life; I am whole; I am present now. Then, imagine a scene in which you already possess the life you seek, and dwell there until it becomes your immediate awareness.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and declare, 'I am life.' In your imagination, step through the gate of 'Narrow Way' and live as though your desire is already real, for 5 minutes tonight.
