Inner Love Matthew 5:43

Matthew 5:43 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 5 in context

Scripture Focus

43Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
Matthew 5:43

Biblical Context

The verse records the older injunction to love one’s neighbor and to dismiss enmity toward others.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider that Jesus is not commanding behavior toward others, but inviting you to correct your inner state. In Neville’s practice, 'neighbor' is a representation of your own consciousness—someone you have in your mind and in your heart. The injunction to love is a summons to align your inner I AM with the vitality that blesses all forms of life. The 'enemy' you imagine is a projection of resistance within you, a line of belief that keeps part of you separate from the wholeness you already are. When you decide that love is your intrinsic reality, you stop reacting to appearances and begin to feel the truth of unity. Your imagination becomes the law of your life: as you assume the feeling of universal benevolence—seeing the other as part of your own self—you alter the energy field around you and within you. The apparent enemy dissolves as the inner drama shifts.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the feeling 'I am that universal love' toward all beings, especially those you call enemies; then picture a scene where you bless them and act from that oneness.
