Open-Hand, Open-Heart Within

Matthew 5:42 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 5 in context

Scripture Focus

42Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
Matthew 5:42

Biblical Context

Matthew 5:42 invites you to respond to every request with generosity and not turn away from lending when asked.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the verse as a map of your inner economy. God—the I AM within—does not vote on who deserves; you are the vessel through which supply flows. To give to him who asks is not about the other’s condition but about your state of consciousness. When you acknowledge that you are the source of all that is given, the world rearranges to reflect that abundance. The one who borrows is an image calling forth your generosity; you do not turn away because you are agreeing with the reality of sufficiency. The act of giving, in this sense, is an inner movement—a revision from lack to plenty. As you assume the feeling of already having more than enough, you actually invite more to arrive; the borrowing becomes a sign that your consciousness is ready to circulate. Do not look to appearances; look to the I AM within, the source through which all giving passes. Your life becomes a display of the truth that you are the imagination that creates reality.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly. Assume the feeling of abundance is yours now; mentally give to a specific person who asks and feel the mood of plenitude as real.
