Scripture Focus

27Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
Matthew 5:27

Biblical Context

Matthew 5:27 presents the external command not to commit adultery. It signals that true purity begins in the heart and inner imagination.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your awareness is the true law. When you hear "thou shalt not commit adultery," you are invited to notice that the real breach occurs in a separated mind that imagines lack or division. In this teaching, the outer act is but a projection of an inner state. The command points to guarding your inner palace: thoughts, desires, and images must remain aligned with the I AM you truly are. See that the 'old time' standard reflects your present level of consciousness; change the state inside, and the world around you shifts to match that new consciousness. Practice the assumption that you are complete, integrated, and beloved, and that your eye is single to the feeling of unity. As you persist in the state of oneness, the temptations described fall away, not by fighting them, but by reconstituting the image you entertain of yourself. Let the whisper of 'I AM' govern every thought, and allow imagination to heal the gap between desire and truth. When you live from that interior wholeness, the outer life becomes the seamless expression of your inner will.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume you are already pure in your consciousness. When a tempting thought arises, revise it by saying 'I AM one with divine love and integrity,' and feel that unity as real.
