Illuminated Identity: The Inner Light

Matthew 5:14-16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 5 in context

Scripture Focus

14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16

Biblical Context

These verses declare you are the light of the world and a city on a hill; your outer life is the visible expression of your inner state. Your good works reflect your lifted awareness.

Neville's Inner Vision

You are the light of your world, now. Your awareness is the candle; your life is the candlestick. When you claim the light as already present in you, you awaken as a city on a hill—the bright center of your own consciousness, shining through every room you enter. The Father within you is the I AM, the source and audience of all your seeing. Your 'good works' are the natural expressions of a renewed mind that refuses to doubt the presence of light. Practice arises by assuming the state you wish to embody, revising any sense of lack, and feeling it real. The world becomes the house in which your light shines, drawing to you opportunities to demonstrate love, integrity, and service. Remember: you are the light that creates the room you inhabit.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly and assume the state 'I am the light of the world.' Visualize a city on a hill within you, radiating outward; carry that brightness into every encounter and let your choices confirm it.
