Biblical Context
John the Baptist speaks of water baptism for repentance, while the one who comes after him will baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Neville's Inner Vision
Water baptism speaks to an outward act—the symbol of turning toward a new direction in life. Yet the coming One does not dabble in rivers; he baptizes by the Holy Ghost and by fire, an inner immersion that dissolves the old sense of self. In this reading, the water points to your present state of repentance, a decision of attention; the Spirit and fire point to the vivifying and purifying presence of God within your consciousness. The Holy Ghost is your awareness; the Fire is the heat of conviction burning away doubt and limitation. When you imagine yourself already bathed in that Spirit, your outer self changes because your inner state has shifted. The One who comes after me is mightier than I; he finds you where you are and elevates your self-image to the level where you are already the I AM. This is not about external rites but about an inner birth in consciousness. From repentance toward a higher state, you walk into the true baptism—the transformation of perception here and now.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume you are the I AM; feel the Spirit’s warmth flooding your chest and cleansing old habits. Say silently, 'I am baptized in Spirit and fire now,' and let the feeling convince your consciousness.
