Inner Cross Of Two States

Matthew 27:38 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 27 in context

Scripture Focus

38Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
Matthew 27:38

Biblical Context

Matthew 27:38 records Jesus crucified between two criminals, one on each side.

Neville's Inner Vision

Two thieves on either side of Jesus are not distant historical figures but two voices within the living mind. The right-hand voice speaks as faith, believing every appearance can be redeemed by the I AM; the left-hand voice clings to fear, condemnation, and the habit of self-justification. Seen through the I AM, the crucifixion scene reveals that every inner crucifixion is an old identification surrendering its hold. Jesus at the center stands as the awareness that witnesses both sides and remains intact—the I AM within you. When you struggle, you are not being punished by a distant God; you are watching the old self falter in the window of your consciousness, its last throes. The power that raised him is your present I AM, ready to revise every story that keeps you bound to a fearful or judgmental version of self. This is the kingdom you seek, not outside you but realized by the certainty of your own awareness.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the I AM as your present reality. Imagine the two thieves as inner voices on either side of your awareness, and revise every fear or judgment until you feel the I AM standing free and complete.
