They crucified Jesus, divided his garments, and cast lots to fulfill prophecy, showing outward events reflecting inner currents.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within this verse lies the mirror of your own consciousness. The crucifixion is the stripping away of a worn identity; the division of garments and the casting of lots are the outward signs of an inner decision set in motion by your state. They say, in prophecy, 'They parted my garments;' but the secret is that this 'they' exists as your thoughts, the changeable perceptions that serve your old self. In Neville's terms, God is the I AM—the witnessing awareness that can imagine and thereby create. If you cling to the old garments—the belief that you are defined by deficiency or lack—the outer scene will reflect the cast of lots: unpredictable, 'fated' outcomes that seem beyond control. Yet the prophecies are simply the inner consequences of your present state fulfilled in time. To change anything, you must shift the inner state first: assume a new identity, feel it real, and revise any belief that your state is fixed.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: In a quiet moment, assume you are already wearing the new vestment of your choice; feel its texture, color, and power. Then declare, 'I AM the state I choose,' and hold that feel-it-real for a few minutes.
