Biblical Context
In plain sense, the verse says the wise refuse to share their oil, insisting there isn’t enough for both and that each traveler must buy for themselves.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the parable as a map of your inner state. The oil is the sustaining awareness you carry within you, the certainty that you are supplied by the I AM. When the wise say not so, lest there be not enough for us and you, they point to a law of consciousness: you cannot borrow vitality from another’s state; you must awaken your own awareness. The scene invites you to stop projecting dependence onto externals and to hold a continuous readiness within. The night would be the time of crisis, but for Neville, crisis is simply the trigger to return to your own throne of awareness. By choosing to consider yourself already provided, you increase the energy you feed your life with. The oil you keep inside becomes the grace that animates your actions, your decisions, and your responses to need. The outer world then reflects your inner light—providence flowing from the self, not from another’s hand. In short: the parable is a reminder that true readiness comes from within, from the steadfast I AM you affirm in every moment.
Practice This Now
Assume you already possess inner sufficiency; in a quiet moment, imagine you are the one with oil and feel it real.
