Inner Prophets and Judgment
Matthew 23:34-36 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Matthew 23 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus announces that God sends prophets, wise men, and scribes, yet many of them will be killed or scourged by this generation. The verse ties that violence to the generation itself, claiming that all righteous blood shed will come upon it.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within Neville’s world, the words are not external history but the movement of consciousness. When Matthew says I send prophets, wise men, and scribes, you are told He sends new ideas and higher faculties into your awareness. The ones you kill, scourge, and persecute are the stubborn beliefs that deny these messengers. Do not fear the verdict passed on ‘this generation’; see it as a clear image of your own current state: when you resist truth, you permit the old blood game to play out in your life. The blood shed from Abel to Zacharias becomes the record of every time you chose fear, guilt, or self-attack instead of faith and integrity. Yet the entirety of that record exists only in your present sense of self. By turning to the I AM, by assuming the feeling that you are now the prophet, the wise man, the scribe, you reverse the scene. The generation you inhabit becomes a field where justice is cultivated by your awareness, not by outside authorities. Your task is to awaken the inner witness who does not condemn but accepts responsibility for imagining and thus realizing truth.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume you are the prophets to yourself now. Revise a current situation by hearing a bold messenger of truth within, and feel that voice as your I AM, real in this moment.
