Inner Hypocrisy Revealed

Matthew 23:29-32 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 23 in context

Scripture Focus

29Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
30And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
31Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
32Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
Matthew 23:29-32

Biblical Context

Jesus exposes the scribes and Pharisees as hypocrites who decorate the tombs of the prophets while clinging to self-righteousness. They claim they would not have shared their fathers' guilt, yet by their words they witness themselves as the kin of those who killed the prophets.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this scene, the inner man is the true stage. The Pharisees symbolize a mind that believes it is righteous while silencing the inner call of truth. To 'fill up the measure of your fathers' is to continue the pattern of separation in your own consciousness. When you awaken, you realize that the 'prophets' within are your own inner voices of conscience and possibility; to ignore them is to refuse to witness the movement of God within you. The moment you stop propping up empty tombs of tradition and instead acknowledge the living movement of awareness—the I AM that you are—you become the one who chooses life over repetition. You are not a judge of others, but the witness to your own state; by changing your inner posture, you revise your external world. The key is not rhetoric but the felt reality that you are the creator of your experience; by embracing truth in your heart, you dissolve the illusion of separation and invite authentic righteousness.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume, I am the consciousness that creates this moment. Feel the inner warmth as you revise: I forgive the past and listen to the inner prophet with unwavering honesty.
