Mask of Outer Righteousness
Matthew 23:28 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse exposes the gap between outward appearances of righteousness and inner condition. It invites turning inward to align who you are with how you present yourself.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the I AM within, outward acts of righteousness are but symbols of an inner state you have accepted as true. When you accuse others of hypocrisy, you are not judging them so much as noticing a hidden belief you have not owned. The iniquity Matthew names is the inner split between live reality and the mask you think you must wear. The remedy is not to reform appearances but to revise the self-image by assuming a new state until it feels real. Practice belief, not behavior; imagine and dwell in your desired state until the feeling of it settles as fact. See yourself as the pure, undivided I AM, and permit that life to overflow into speech, motive, and action. Then the 'righteousness' shown to men will arise from the inside out, and the inner and outer will harmonize. This verse, in Neville's sense, invites you to awaken from the dream of separation and remember who you are: consciousness itself, always already in alignment with truth.
Practice This Now
Act now: close your eyes, assume the state 'I am pure and undivided consciousness,' and feel it as fact for five minutes before sleep. Let actions, words, and moods unfold from that inner life.
