Scripture Focus

16So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.
Matthew 20:16

Biblical Context

Matthew 20:16 presents a reversal of worldly order: the Kingdom is entered by inner readiness, not external rank. Many are called, but only those who awaken to a steady inner state become chosen.

Neville's Inner Vision

Jesus speaks of a reversal that begins in mind. The 'last' and the 'first' symbolize states of consciousness, not people in a queue. When you perceive yourself as the last—overlooked, unworthy, or far from your desire—you are simply in a segment of your inner life awaiting a shift. The call goes out to all, but the 'chosen' are those who answer by refusing to abandon the desire in the face of appearances. In Neville's terms, the Kingdom of God is within: the moment you take up a new assumption and dwell there with feeling, you move from last to first. The many calling echoes the flood of impulses that tempt you to doubt; the few chosen are the persistent, the ones who maintain the image of the wish until it becomes your lived fact. So the scripture invites a practical discipline: assume the end, revise any contrary sense, and feel it real here and now. Your awareness is the I AM; when you cling to a single, vivid state of fulfilment, you reverse the order and stand in the Kingdom.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and, for five minutes, imagine you are already in possession of your heart's desire, repeating 'I am the one chosen now.' Then gently revise any sense of lack by returning to the felt reality of the fulfilled state.
