Inner Star, Honest Worship
Matthew 2:7-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Herod privately questions the wise men about when the star appeared, then sends them to Bethlehem to locate the child, feigning a wish to worship him as well.
Neville's Inner Vision
Herod in this text is not a man out there but a state of mind within you—the hardened ego clinging to control. When he privately calls the wise men and asks diligently what time the star appeared, you are seeing the mind trying to pin down when your inner light will flare so you can manipulate the outcome. The star is the living I AM, the inner guidance that shines from your awareness and points to Bethlehem—the birthplace of your true nature, the Christ within. The wise men are faculties of perception drawn by that light; they are the seekers who follow a sign toward the birth of the higher self. To send them to Bethlehem with orders to report back is the impulse to externalize power—to worship in form while withholding the inner truth. But true worship is the acknowledgment and consent to the birth of the Christ now, in your own heart. The journey to Bethlehem is a shift in assumption: you stop relying on outer schedules and, by silent feeling, declare that the king and the kingdom already reside in you. Imagination is the instrument by which you realize it.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine the inner star guiding you to your heart; in that still Bethlehem, declare I am the authority here and feel the birth of your higher self as true worship.
