Bethlehem Within: The Governor

Matthew 2:5-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 2 in context

Scripture Focus

5And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
6And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
Matthew 2:5-6

Biblical Context

The text identifies Bethlehem as the birthplace of a Governor who shall rule Israel. The focus is on a promised kingship arising from humble beginnings.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this text, the geography is a map of consciousness. Bethlehem is not a place you visit; it is the quiet, receptive state where the I AM awakens to its own sovereignty. The Governor named in the prophecy is the ruler who, imagined as already resident within you, begins to govern the restless thoughts, fears, and appetites. Israel represents your inner faculties—memory, imagination, will, feeling—and when the Governor sits upon the throne, these faculties yield to one author: the I AM within. The prophecy thus describes an inner awakening, the alignment of your inner world with divine law, not a distant event. The Kingdom of God is the order established in consciousness. Your practice is to assume the state of this Governor, to feel as though he is ruling now, to revise any contrary impression, and to let feel-it-real conviction permeate every moment. Then outward circumstances can rearrange to mirror the settled order you have already chosen in your mind.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and travel to your inner Bethlehem. Repeat, 'I AM the Governor within,' and feel that ruling presence steady your mind and life from this throne.
