Matthew 2:20-21

Biblical Context

Joseph is told to arise and take Mary and Jesus to the land of Israel because those who sought the child's life are dead; he obediently moves the family into the land.

Neville's Inner Vision

On the page of Matthew, the outward journey is never merely geography; it is the inward motion of consciousness. 'Arise' is the command of your I AM to lift the dream from fear; 'the land of Israel' is not a territory but a state of assurance where God's presence is felt as now. The 'death' of those who sought the child's life is the closing of old conditions, the old thought patterns that would persecute your peace. When Joseph arose and took the child and his mother into the land, he did not go anywhere but into a new inner disposition: you enter a state where you are attended by wisdom and protection. The journey is the continuous return to the I AM, a safe dwelling place in which danger has expired into the past. This is salvation—moving from panic to the realization that you are already held by the divine presence, and all who sought to harm the dream disappear as you hold the vision of the child in the light of your own I AM.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, declare, 'I am the way; I am the land of Israel,' and imagine rising from fear to safety, stepping into a landscape of continuity and protection. Feel the fear die as the new state of consciousness takes hold and you are gently guided home.
