Read Matthew 19 in context

Scripture Focus

21Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Matthew 19:21

Biblical Context

Jesus tells a man that perfection requires renouncing his possessions, giving to the poor, and following Him. He promises treasure in heaven, not wealth on earth.

Neville's Inner Vision

To the seeker who asks what is necessary to be perfect, the answer is not a rule of conduct but a shift of consciousness. Perfection is the state of awareness in which you identify not with your bankbook but with the I AM that animates you. The command to sell what you have is a symbolic gesture: detach your sense of self from property and the security it seems to provide. The act of giving to the poor is the redirection of energy from self-centered possession to the living energy of love within. When you shift your center, treasure arises not in pockets or ledgers but in a transformed inner climate—an abundance that cannot be counted by external measure. Following Jesus becomes a daily aligning with the inner guidance, letting imagination do the choosing and directing your life toward what you truly desire. The 'heaven' here is an inner treasury of assurance, generosity, and creative power, accessed the moment you consent to be governed by the I AM rather than by fear of lack.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and try: 'I am the I AM; I have all I need.' Feel the truth of this now, then revise your sense of lack by giving freely and following the inner guide, as if your wealth is already secured in heaven.
