Inner Commandments For Life
Matthew 19:17-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus tells the young man that life comes by keeping the commandments; the verse lists key moral commands and ends with loving one’s neighbor as oneself.
Neville's Inner Vision
Life, in this reading, is not earned by outward conformity but entered as a state of consciousness. There is none good but God, the I AM within you, and the commandments point to the condition of your inner weather. To 'do no murder' or 'do not steal' is to discipline thought and desire until commitment to truth, gentleness, and fair dealing becomes your automatic mode. When you align your inner story with the law—refusing to bear false witness in your thinking, choosing honesty in perception and speech—you stop creating a world of divisions. 'Honour thy father and thy mother' becomes reverence for your own origin and for the beliefs you have accepted, while 'love thy neighbour as thyself' reveals the oneness that underlies every appearance. The inner law is not a list to file away but a set of vibrations you inhabit. As you awaken to the I AM within, you enter life, and the world outside begins to respond as a faithful sign of that interior law.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume you are the one who keeps the commandments; feel the I AM as life within you, and repeat I keep the commandments now. Then imagine a simple interaction with a neighbor filled with patience and love.
