Hearing the Beloved Voice Within

Matthew 17:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 17 in context

Scripture Focus

5While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Matthew 17:5

Biblical Context

The cloud voice declares the beloved Son and bids the disciples listen to him. It points to your inner sonship and the call to follow the inner guidance.

Neville's Inner Vision

In my reading, the cloud is the aura of conscious awareness surrounding you. The voice from the cloud is the I AM speaking within you, declaring your true nature and inviting your attention. 'This is my beloved Son' becomes the realization you can claim now: you are the beloved self, the perfected state God already approves. 'In whom I am well pleased' is not a past verdict but a present alignment you choose to inhabit. 'Hear ye him' is instruction to attend your inner teacher—the living idea that governs every thought and image. When you hear that inner voice, the outer cloud and crowd fade, and you experience a quick transfiguration of your sense of self: confidence grows, fear dissolves, and clear direction arises. The change is immediate in consciousness and persists as you persist in living from that inner authority.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.' Let that inner yes rise as if spoken by the I AM, and let it guide your next action.
