On the level of inner meaning, Moses and Elijah are not distant men but the two great states of consciousness—Law and Prophecy—now conversing with your awareness. The mountaintop represents an elevated state of mind where you can hear beyond noise. When you attend to the inner dialogue as your own, you are witnessing the living judgment and promise that dwell in you: the established authority of the Law (pattern, order, discipline) and the prophetic assurance of a future fulfilled in present awareness. Their appearance teaches that the divine Presence is not external but revealed within the house of your I AM. The apostles' astonishment mirrors the ordinary mind encountering its own inner counsel; your task is to recognize that hearing as your own and revise your sense of self to align with it. The goal is not history but recognition: you are already in communion with the law and the promise here and now, and imagination is the bridge that makes that communion tangible in your daily life.
