Scripture Focus

14And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
15Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
16And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
17Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
Matthew 17:14-17

Biblical Context

A man pleads for mercy to heal his tormented son, but the disciples cannot cure him. Jesus responds by addressing faith and inviting him to bring the boy to Him.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this scene, the crowd and the ailing boy are inner states of consciousness. The fever and the water symbolize the fires of fear and the flood of restless thought when you identify with a problem. The disciples’ failure to heal shows that technique or authority apart from inner recognition cannot cure; healing requires a change of identification. Jesus’ rebuke of faithless generation is a call to return to the I AM, the unchanging awareness you are. Bring him hither to me means bring the troubling state into the realm of the I AM, where true transformation occurs. The cure is not in external hands but in recognizing that the I AM within you is the source of all healing. When you identify with the problem, you obscure the remedy; when you identify with the I AM, the lunatic condition subsides and wholeness returns. This is Neville's invitation: your life shifts as you claim the awareness that you are the I AM and let that awareness do the healing.

Practice This Now

Assume the healing already exists within you as the I AM. Feel that certainty now and revise the scene by declaring I AM healing this situation until it becomes your present reality.
