Inner Elijah, John Within

Matthew 17:11-13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 17 in context

Scripture Focus

11And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
12But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
13Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
Matthew 17:11-13

Biblical Context

Elijah’s coming is fulfilled in John the Baptist; yet the inner messenger is not recognized. The verse shows the Son of Man will suffer as this misrecognition unfolds.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the theater of consciousness, Elijah represents a cleansing, awakening energy that returns every part of your mind to harmony. The inner messenger arises within you to restore order, truth, and faith where there was resistance. When the world fails to recognize, that is the old self resisting change. The Son of Man is your higher I AM, suffering only as you cling to former stories; when you accept the inner Elijah, you release the need to confirm from without. The disciples’ realization that Elijah was John is your cue: the recognized inner messenger is a revision of your state, not a new fact; it is the shift in your inner atmosphere that makes the outer world align. Trust the movement: restoration begins inside, through quiet conviction and the felt reality of your I AM choosing truth over fear. Your faith is not passive belief but the living assumption that you are already whole.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes; assume the inner Elijah has come and is restoring all things within your mind; feel the wholeness and revise any lack; silently affirm, 'Elijah is here; I recognize my inner messenger within me.'
