Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The disciples ask about Elijah; Jesus says Elijah has come already in John the Baptist, though they did not recognize him. He adds that the Son of Man will suffer, and the disciples realize he was speaking of John.
Neville's Inner Vision
Elijah here stands not as a far-off event in history, but as a state of consciousness that restores all things within you. When the master says Elijah has come already, he invites you to look inward and discover your John the Baptist—the fierce inward messenger who prepares the way for the Kingdom of God by cleansing old beliefs and softening fear. The scribes may miss him; so too do you, when you seek outside signs. Yet the truth remains: your inner Elijah has arrived as your awareness itself, and what is done to him in your world is the result of your own reactions to that awakening. The suffering of the Son of Man is not punishment, but a necessary turning of the wheel inside you, a shedding of ego-allegiance so that your I AM, your true Self, can stand revealed. Trust this process: when you recognize John as the fulfillment of prophecy within, the outer events rearrange to reflect your inner restoration.
Practice This Now
Assume the inner Elijah has already come—your own awareness awakening as John the Baptist. Revise doubt and feel it real for two minutes, then observe how your outer life begins to reflect that inward restoration.
