Inner Worship Beyond Lip-Service

Matthew 15:7-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 15 in context

Scripture Focus

7Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Matthew 15:7-9

Biblical Context

Jesus condemns outward lip-service while the heart remains distant. True worship requires inner alignment between what you say and what you truly feel.

Neville's Inner Vision

Seen through the I AM lens, 'hypocrites' are states of consciousness where the mouth speaks reverence while the heart remains distant from the truth one seeks. Esaias prophetic words describe a habit of pretending, where impressive words are used to honor God but inner life is governed by fear, desire, or compliance with men's commandments. In Neville's terms, worship is not a ceremony but a state of pure awareness—knowing that the I AM is present in every thought, feeling, and act. When you identify with the 'I' that is aware, the inner motive becomes aligned with the outer expression; there is no separation between what you say you believe and what you feel you are. The so-called 'commandments of men' are merely borrowed structures that can distract from the living truth inside; to worship truly is to revise those doctrines by feeling the reality of your own divine state. Practice noticing when your words outpace your heart and gently revise the inner posture until the heart and lips move as one.

Practice This Now

Assume the feeling of the I AM aligning heart and lips, and revise any belief that ritual alone suffices. Feel this unity as real now, and let your outer life reflect the inner accord.
