Biblical Context

Herod, bound by his oath and the company at table, orders John the Baptist's execution in prison; the scene closes with the head brought to the dancer and handed to her mother.

Neville's Inner Vision

See this as a script of your own mind. The 'king' stands for the part of you governed by fear of reputation, the audience, and obligation. The oath is a belief you have accepted as 'law' in your life; the imprisonment is the stuck state of consciousness produced by that belief. John's voice—the prophet within—speaks truth and integrity, but the outer decree silences him for a season. The beheading is the inner death of a mental oath that no longer serves you. In Neville's way, every outer event is a movement of consciousness you can revise. When you inwardly declare, 'I am the I AM; I revoke the oath that binds me to appearances,' you release the inner John and restore alignment with universal law. The fear and sorrow you imagine as 'clock and crowd' fall away as you feel the one life, the living I AM, governing all scenes. The resolution is not violence but revision: you change the state of mind and the world conforms to your inner truth.

Practice This Now

Assume you are the inner king who can revoke every oath binding your life to appearances. Feel the I AM now, and let the fear-based decree dissolve as you rest in a truth that is unimpeachable.
