Audience of One: Inner Prophet

Matthew 14:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 14 in context

Scripture Focus

5And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
Matthew 14:5

Biblical Context

Herod feared killing John because the crowd counted him a prophet; the verse highlights how public opinion can govern outward action. In Neville's lens, the 'crowd' is your inner beliefs about yourself, and fear arises from identifying with those beliefs.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you, the crowd is your own belief about who you are. When you would act on a truth your inner prophet proclaims, you hesitate because you are counting on the multitude. The 'prophet' is your inner sense of truth, and the fear of the many is the fear of losing the support of opinion inside you. Your ruler is the I AM; outer verdicts are only shadows of inner states. If you revise by declaring, 'I am the prophet' or 'the inner I AM approves this action,' fear dissolves and action flows. The event is not something happening to you but a movement in your consciousness. By withholding belief in external opinion and planting a seed of conviction that aligns with truth, you disarm the crowd and enact your desired reality. Remember: imagination creates reality; your care is to feel the revised state as already true and let the outer scene reflect that certainty.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the state 'I am the prophet' now. Feel that truth as a tangible reality in your chest and notice the crowd dissolve into a quiet, supportive presence.
