Touching the Hem of I AM

Matthew 14:34-36 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 14 in context

Scripture Focus

34And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.
35And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;
36And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.
Matthew 14:34-36

Biblical Context

Jesus arrives in Gennesaret, and the sick come to him from all around. Those who touch the hem of his garment are made perfectly whole.

Neville's Inner Vision

Picture the scene as a parable of your inner estate. The hem is not a cloth upon a man, but the edge of your awareness where life can surge. The crowds' knowledge of him mirrors your recognition of the Presence you call I AM. To touch the hem is to fix attention at the boundary of your present self and say, 'I am whole now.' Feel this as a vivid, experiential fact, not a mere wish. Healing flows as an immediate translation of this inner state into your body, for you cannot separate the inner state from its outward expression. When you assume the feeling of total wellness, the outer diseased condition yields to the inner fact of health. The 'as many as touched' are those who consent to this inner touch and become whole through that conscious alignment.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and, at the edge of your awareness, imagine the hem of your inner garment. Then, affirm softly, 'I am whole,' and let the feeling ripple through you until it fills every part.
