Inner Law Over Herod's Prison

Matthew 14:3-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 14 in context

Scripture Focus

3For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.
4For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.
Matthew 14:3-4

Biblical Context

Herod arrested John and imprisoned him for Herodias' sake, the wife of his brother Philip. John then told Herod that it was not lawful for him to have her.

Neville's Inner Vision

Entering the inner theatre, Herod is a state of consciousness fixed on appearances and appetite; John is the inner John the I AM, the voice that judges the motives and says, 'It is not lawful' to partake in false bondages. The prison is the belief you must compromise your truth to fit outward expectations. But John's word is an invitation to alignment: when you recognize the I AM as the sole governor of your life, the inner law outranks any outward decree. To revise, assume that the inner order has already set you free; feel the certainty that you cannot be bound by a desire that denies your true nature. As you dwell in that feeling-state, the outer circumstances lighten, the prison dissolves, and you walk in the liberty of your true self—the discipline of integrity replacing the coercion of the senses.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and imagine the inner John stepping forward, declaring to the impulse, 'It is not lawful.' Rest in the certainty of I AM until the mental prison dissolves and you feel the freedom.
