Risen Christ Within Matthew 14:1-2

Matthew 14:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 14 in context

Scripture Focus

1At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,
2And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.
Matthew 14:1-2

Biblical Context

Herod misreads Jesus as John the Baptist risen from the dead. The scene shows how a belief about identity shapes what you think is happening.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this passage, the fame of Jesus is the sign of the Christ within you, and Herod’s verdict—'This is John the Baptist risen'—is the old self clinging to a familiar identity. John the Baptist represents preparation and the longing for truth; his 'rising from the dead' is the revival of a dead belief. The true interpretation is that the Christ within you is alive now, and miracles are the natural fruit of that awareness, not a physical resurrection of an old figure. When you understand that you are not the outer scene but the I AM perceiving it, you stop chasing shadows and begin expressing life in forms governed by truth. The 'mighty works' become evidence of a renewed inner state: a mind that has ceased to mistake the image for reality and has chosen the reality of consciousness. So revise the scene: identify with the risen Christ within, and imagine that this inner life is the source of all demonstration in your world.

Practice This Now

Assume the risen Christ is alive in you now. Feel it real by silently repeating, I am the Christ in me, here and now, and notice the inner peace and fresh direction that follows.
