Rooting the Inner Seed

Matthew 13:21-22 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 13 in context

Scripture Focus

21Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
22He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
Matthew 13:21-22

Biblical Context

Some hear the Word and take root, but others falter when trouble or persecution arises; the cares of this world crowd out the seed and it bears no fruit.

Neville's Inner Vision

Picture the seed as a truth planted within your own consciousness, not a distant doctrine. The parable shows you may hear the Word yet fail to take root when you identify with appearances—tribulation, persecution, or the care of this world—and your attention feeds fear, loss, or lack. In Neville’s view, the world you see is the outward dress of your inner state. When the Word is choked by the deceitfulness of riches or by anxiety about tomorrow, you have made your inner garden barren; you have believed a condition into being. Yet you are not at the mercy of circumstances: you are the I AM, the awareness that says, 'Let there be light' and there is. To restore fruitfulness, refuse to abandon the inner decree. Do not argue with sensation; revise the sentence you live by until it feels true that your world bends to your inner assumption. When tribulation appears, greet it as a signal to return to your root—the unshakable I AM that plants the seed and makes it fruitful.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the inner seed has taken root in your awareness; repeat, 'I am the Word planted in me, growing; no tribulation can choke me.'
