Biblical Context
Jesus calls for exclusive devotion to him, even over beloved family. True life comes by bearing the cross and surrendering personal ambitions.
Neville's Inner Vision
What you read as loving father, mother, son, or daughter is really a picture of your inner attachments. When you place any image or role above the I AM within, you declare unworthiness of the dynamic Self that seeks to express through you. The cross is not a wooden burden but a mental habit you refuse to release; to follow the I AM is to shift allegiance from outward identities to the consciousness that is always present as I AM. To find life, you must lose the ego’s claim to security; to gain it, identify with the awareness that existed before form. In the inner kingdom, images become events as you consent with imagination to the I AM filling all you call world. Your relationships and status mirror your current state—revise them by aligning with the I AM as your sole ruler, and observe life rearrange itself to reflect that truth. The moment you accept the I AM as the deepest you, your external world follows as a natural expression of that same life.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Tonight, close your eyes and affirm, 'I AM the I AM; nothing in life is more real than this awareness.' Visualize your attachments dissolving into light and, by repeating 'I love the I AM more than any person,' feel the life-centered shift occurring within you.
