Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus empowers his followers to move boldly yet wisely, facing opposition with discernment and innocence, while trusting that Spirit will guide their speech when needed. The inner source of power is the Spirit of the Father speaking in them.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this passage, the wolves symbolize the fear and noise of the outer world, while the sheep represents your awakened I AM. To be wise as serpents is to cultivate inner discernment—to heed the still, inner promptings of Spirit rather than reacting from habit. To be harmless as doves is to maintain a loving, nonresistant posture in consciousness, so outer events reflect inner alignment rather than personal struggle. The warnings and trials are not punishments but doors through which Spirit may express itself more clearly; when you are brought before others, you need not devise words, for the exact thought will come through you as the Spirit of your Father speaks in you. Thus, the outward scene is a mirror of your inner state. Fix attention on the I AM, trust that your consciousness is the instrument through which reality manifests, and observe fear dissolve as inner authority becomes outer speech.
Practice This Now
Assume the stance: 'I am Spirit speaking through me now.' In stillness, feel the inner voice guiding your words as needed, and let the outer speech follow that prompt.
